Jamie Gans has spent much of his life following the elusive tune. As a graduate of Macalester College he was a member of Mac’s college pipe band but soon after shifted his musical devotion to the fiddle. In the late ‘70’s from the inspiration of several Irish traditional musicians, including Martin McHugh, Jamie became one of the founding members of the Twin Cities’ Plough and Stars Céilí Band, which then changed their name to The Northern Star Céilí Band. As well as being a brilliant Irish fiddler (and old time too!), Jamie is an avid collector of tunes and contributed many rare and interesting tunes to the Irish repertoire in the Twin Cities. In the 1980’s and 1990’s he performed and toured with Paddy O’Brien and on both sides of the Atlantic with Dáithí Sproule.
